Carriers are overcharging consumers by at least $35 for each smartphone sold with a 2 year contract. Rather than charging consumers tax on the price paid at the register (e.g. $199 for an iPhone 5s), the carriers are illegally charging consumers tax on the “list price” of the phone (e.g. at least $599 for an iPhone 5s).
If you purchased a smartphone with a 2 year contract from a carrier store in California in the last 2 years, we would like to hear from you.
