Straight Talk Wireless “Unlimited Data” False Advertising

Posted on May 18th, 2013

We are currently investigating complaints by California consumers that Straight Talk falsely promotes its mobile phone plans as providing unlimited data. While the company promises “unlimited everything,” consumers have charged that the company actually imposes a monthly, or even daily, cap on data.

Straight Talk’s smartphone data plans appear to have a soft cap of around 2GB per month or 100-200MB per day, and thereafter Straight Talk allegedly either dramatically slows consumers’ data speeds or cuts data service off altogether.

If you reside in California and purchased a smartphone or SIM card and an unlimited data plan from Straight Talk, and experienced either restrictions on the amount of data you could access or slower data speeds, we would like to learn of your experience.
